Mirik has become a tourist destination for its climate, natural environment, and easy accessibility. It is 47 Km from Siliguri and takes about two hours to reach Mirik Bazar. Sumendu lake or Mirik Lake is the center of attraction in Mirik. Rain and spring water keep feeding the lake, maintaining its year-round water levels. The depth of water varies from 3ft to 25 ft. The western bank of the lake is surrounded by a forest with tall dhupi trees, offering walking trails for visitors. There is a beautiful garden on the eastern side of the lake where tourists can relax and enjoy the scenery. Boating is a popular activity on Mirik Lake. The Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery, located about a kilometer east/southeast of Mirik Lake, is a picturesque Buddhist monastery. Gopaldhara Tea Estate, nestled in the enchanting Mirik region of Darjeeling, is a tea lover's paradise. It has a heritage bungalow that provides accommodations and the opportunity to learn about tea production. The estate is known for its high-altitude teas.
