Tawang : feast for the eyes

Tawang is a town and district headquarter of Tawang district. This town lies north of Tawang Chu river and 17 km south of actual line control of China. Tawang is located at an elevation of 3048 meter.There are many places of attraction in Tawang you can visit while exploring the town. Tawang is also the cultural epicenter of Arunachal Pradesh.

PTSO Lake Tawang valley is full of lakes and waterfalls and one such wonder is Penga Teng Tso Lake. It is 16 km away from Bumla. The lake is always frozen in winter.
Pangateng Tso Lake
The Sangestar Tso-This beautiful lake is formed by a flash flood after the earthquake of 1950. It is originally Sangstar lake.
Madhuri lake
30 km away from Tawang. The lake is also famous as Madhuri Lake after the popular Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit who was here for a shoot of "Tanhai Tanhai" song of a movie named Koyla.

Tawang monastery is located 2km away from Tawang. It is second biggest and oldest monatery in Asia. Tawang Ganden Namgyal Lhatse ,i.e., the celestial paradise of divine site chosen by the horse was founded by Merag Lodroe Gyamtso in the year 1680-81. The Tawang Monastery has a residential building for the monks, a library, a museum and school for the basic education.
